Is a Keratin Smoothing Treatment Right for Your Hair?
If your hair tends to get frizzy, dry or overall unruly, then some type of keratin treatment is a great option in the hotter, more humid summer months especially.

Why is Keratin Good for Hair?
Keratin is a protein naturally found in hair and provides structure and strength. The roughness that textured hair can experience is reduced at the cortex level, the largest segment of a hair strand, through keratin treatments. This is done through cross linking of cortical cells, made up mostly of keratin strands, which adds structure to asymmetrical patterns found at the cellular level. The result of keratin strengthening to the cortex of hair makes it more manageable, easier to dry, stronger and silkier.
What is the Best Type of Keratin Treatment?
Keratin treatments have evolved into many different brands using different technologies. The best type can be subjective as some may be better for certain needs over others. This doesn’t mean that some aren’t truly better than others; it just means that you might be better finding the treatment that’s best suited for your personal hair type. See below for some of the types of keratin treatments we use at Salon Aster.

How Much Do Keratin Treatments Cost?
The cost of keratin treatments can vary depending on where you’re located and what type of salon you’re interested in. Higher end salons will charge more for the same treatment that a neighborhood salon might do exactly the same way. The price for a keratin treatment starts at $295 for two ounces of product with an extra $25 charge for any additional half ounce used. When it comes to extra thick or porous hair, this can really help us keep our prices fair and transparent! We hope to see you soon for a smoothing treatment customized to your needs.
